We got off without a hitch Tuesday and spent the night (what there was of it) close to the San Francisco Airport. We were up around 2:30 Wednesday morning to catch our 5:55 a.m. flight to Miami, then Barcelona. After 18 hours of travel (about 3 1/2 of that with our layover at the Miami Airport), we arrived safe and sound in Barcelona at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Everything went very smoothly; but since neither Bonnie nor I are able to get much sleep while flying, we are zombies at this point, having been up for about 32 hours. A good night’s sleep in in order for us!
Before reaching Barcelona we had a beautiful view of the Pyrénées Mountains from our plane.
Since we arrived in Barcelona so early, our rooms were not ready for us. Not wanting to waste any time before beginning our exploration of this beautiful city, Bonnie and I headed out to to walk La Rambla. This tree lined pedestrian walkway is filled with flower shops, sidewalk cafes, fountains, and wonderful Gothic architecture. It culminates when it reaches the Mediterranean Sea with this monument to Mirador de Colon, Christopher Columbus.
The Pyrénées Mountains are amazing. WOW what a view!
